Taif Municipality has launched the 'Universal Access' initiative for people with disabilities, aiming to create an urban environment that facilitates their access, mobility, and use of public facilities and services with independence and safety.

The municipality stated that the initiative is part of its efforts to improve the quality of services provided to people with disabilities and to consider their needs in current and future projects and facilities.

It reported that the initiative includes regulations and standards that consider the needs of various disability categories, including motor, visual, auditory, intellectual, learning, and temporary disabilities, based on relevant local and international regulations and references.

It clarified that the initiative specifies the main specifications required in public buildings and facilities, including vehicle parking, ramps, external stairs, entrances, doors, elevators, restrooms, and other elements that contribute to facilitating the movement of people with disabilities and enabling them to use public facilities.
