His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect him - chaired the Cabinet session held today in Jeddah.
At the outset of the session, His Highness the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the content of the phone call he received from His Excellency US President Donald Trump, during which they reviewed areas of cooperation between the two countries and a number of regional and international issues, and emphasized support for everything that contributes to achieving the security and stability of the region.
His Highness also informed the Cabinet of the results of his discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, which confirmed the keenness to solidify and develop bilateral relations at various levels towards a future characterized by deeper joint cooperation, supported by mutual trust and close friendship, and the objectives emanating from Saudi Vision 2030 and Canada's growth agenda to build a stronger and more resilient economy for both countries.
In this context, the Cabinet commended the signing of memoranda of understanding during the official visit of Canadian Prime Minister regarding the establishment of the Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council and cooperation in the field of energy, investment in artificial intelligence and skills development, and the success achieved in the Saudi-Canadian Investment Forum, which included the announcement of commercial and investment agreements between government entities, companies and institutions from both countries in the fields of mining, engineering, infrastructure, advanced industries, training, education, financial services, and information and communications technology.
His Excellency Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Acting Minister of Media, Engineer Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, stated in his statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session that the Cabinet, following its monitoring of events on the regional and international arenas, condemned in the strongest terms the repeated Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and on Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, affirming complete rejection of Iran's continued destabilizing behavior in the region and its violations of the principles of international law, the Charters of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the rules of good neighborliness.
The Cabinet expressed its welcome of the contents of the meeting held in Riyadh between the Saudi and Iraqi sides, which included Iraq's affirmation of its commitment not to allow its territory and airspace to be used as a launchpad for any acts or attacks targeting the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and the region's countries, in addition to agreeing to continue bilateral coordination to serve common interests.
The Cabinet welcomed the announcement by the United States of America to begin procedures to repeal the 'Law Designating the Syrian Arab Republic as a State Sponsor of Terrorism' enacted in 1979, reiterating the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's support for the positive steps taken by the Syrian government to enhance security and stability, build state institutions, and fulfill the aspirations of its brotherly people.
The Cabinet reviewed the topics on its agenda, including topics that the Shura Council participated in studying, and also reviewed the outcomes of the Council of Political and Security Affairs, the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the General Committee of the Cabinet, and the Experts Authority of the Cabinet regarding them, and the Cabinet decided the following:
First:
Authorizing His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs - or his designee - to negotiate with the Guatemalan side on a draft general cooperation agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Guatemala, and to sign it.
Second:
Authorizing His Highness the Minister of Culture - or his designee - to negotiate with the Albanian side on a draft memorandum of understanding for cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Albania, and to sign it.
Third:
Authorizing His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development - or his designee - to negotiate with the Armenian side on a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of labor and social protection between the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, and to sign it.
Fourth:
The Saudi Society of Internal Auditors to negotiate with the Turkish Institute of Internal Auditing on a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of internal auditing, governance, risk, and compliance, and to sign it.
Fifth:
Approval of a memorandum of understanding for technical and scientific geological cooperation between the Saudi Geological Survey and the Iraqi Geological Survey.
Sixth:
Approval of two memoranda of understanding in the field of anti-corruption between the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Attorney General's Office of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and the High Authority for Good Governance of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
Seventh:
Approval of a memorandum of understanding between the General Auditing Bureau of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State Audit Office of the Republic of North Macedonia for cooperation in the field of accounting, auditing, and professional work.
Eighth:
Approval of two memoranda of understanding for cooperation in the field of procedures, mechanisms, and strategies related to the non-profit sector between the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Social Development of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth of the Republic of Singapore.
Ninth:
Approval of a memorandum of understanding between the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Tenth:
Approval of the State Revenue System.
Eleventh:
Introduction of a training visa granted to international trainees, subject to a number of arrangements.
Twelfth:
Appointment of Mr. Emad bin Ouda Al-Ouda and Mr. Fahd bin Mohammed Al-Shibl as members of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Postal Corporation.
Thirteenth:
Approval of the final accounts of the Agricultural Development Fund, the Tourism Development Fund, and the universities of (Jazan, Umm Al-Qura, Hail, and Hafr Al-Batin) for previous fiscal years.
Fourteenth:
Directing the necessary action on a number of topics on the Cabinet's agenda, including annual reports of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority, and the universities of (Umm Al-Qura, Northern Borders, and King Khalid).
