Medina, Safar 07, 1448 AH, corresponding to July 21, 2026, SPA -- The library of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman International Center for Arabic Calligraphy, "Dar al-Qalam," is the largest and first specialized library globally in Arabic calligraphy and related arts. It contains publications in several languages to introduce Arabic calligraphy and its various arts. The library aims to build a leading international knowledge reference to serve scientific research and establish the largest international repository for documenting and preserving the memory of this civilizational heritage. The library provides a supportive environment and knowledge services targeting academic researchers, as well as calligraphers, artists, and those interested in the aesthetics of this art. The library's knowledge holdings are integrated into a comprehensive specialized framework, starting with documenting the history of Arabic calligraphy, its origins, stages of development, passing through biographies of calligraphers, writing tools, ink, pen, and paper manufacturing, leading to instruction booklets, albums, calligraphic panels, along with supporting arts, most notably: illumination, ornamentation, inscriptions, and others, achieving knowledge comprehensiveness for both the researcher and practitioner alike. The library houses approximately (2,000) specialized titles in (11) different international languages, and contains about (450) rare copies of books in this field, in addition to the center's scientific publications, specialized encyclopedias, catalogs of international and local exhibitions and competitions, peer-reviewed periodicals, illustrated manuscripts, and academic theses.
