Jeddah Municipality official spokesperson Mohammed bin Obaid Al-Buqami revealed that the designs of walking paths are based on precise engineering standards that consider the needs of various community groups, and aim to provide a safe and comfortable environment that encourages adopting a healthy lifestyle, through paths that offer an integrated experience within parks and public facilities.

Al-Buqami explained that these standards rely on achieving a balance between recreational elements and the primary uses of the sites, linking them to surrounding urban uses, in addition to selecting plants suitable for the local environment and distributing them in line with pedestrian paths, which contributes to providing shade and enhancing visitor comfort.

He pointed out that the path design takes into account providing appropriate widths for pathways to ensure smooth pedestrian movement, while applying universal access requirements that enable people with disabilities and the elderly to use the facilities with ease and convenience.

He emphasized that the paths include adequate lighting, seating benches, waste bins, and shading elements in appropriate locations, as well as safe bicycle paths, stressing that Jeddah Municipality carries out periodic maintenance to address any subsidence or cracks that might affect user safety.

These efforts come within the framework of Jeddah Municipality's direction towards developing more efficient and sustainable public facilities, contributing to enhancing public health and encouraging physical activity, making parks and walking paths daily destinations that meet the needs of residents and visitors, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in building more vibrant and sustainable cities.
