Processing of 4,300 Road Observations Continues
The General Authority for Roads announced that approximately 8,000 observations have been addressed as part of the sixth edition of the 'Distinguished Safe Roads' campaign, which launched last February, aiming to survey and evaluate the road network outside urban areas across various regions of the Kingdom. Road Safety: The authority clarified that field teams have recorded 12,157 observations since the campaign began, of which 7,792 observations have been processed, representing more than 64% of the total, while teams continue their intensive work to process the remaining 4,365 observations, ensuring the improvement of road efficiency and enhancing road safety levels. Road Network: The campaign targeted a comprehensive survey of the national road network, which exceeds 73,000 km, with the participation of more than 620 members from the transport and logistics system, university students, members of the Special Forces for Road Security, and representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, distributed across 62 field teams, to detect and address potholes and cracks, pavement defects, visual distortion elements, weak mobile coverage, and other aspects that affect the quality of the road user experience. Quality of Life: This campaign is a qualitative step to achieve the targets of the road sector program, reaching the sixth global ranking in the road quality index, and reducing the mortality rate to less than 5 cases per 100,000 people, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of life, preserving infrastructure sustainability, and cementing the Kingdom's global leadership in road network connectivity, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
