The General Authority for Roads treated nearly 8,000 observations as part of the sixth edition of the 'Distinguished Safe Roads' campaign, which was launched last February under the patronage of Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of the Authority's Board of Directors, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser; with the aim of surveying and evaluating the road network outside urban areas in various regions of the Kingdom.

With the participation of more than 620 members

The authority stated that field teams recorded 12,000 observations since the launch of the campaign, of which 7,700 observations have been treated, representing more than 64% of the total, while teams continue their intensive work to treat the remaining 4,300 observations, ensuring the improvement of road efficiency and enhancing traffic safety levels.

The campaign targeted a comprehensive survey of the national road network whose lengths exceed 73,000 km, with the participation of more than 620 members from the transport and logistics system, university students, members of the Special Forces for Road Security, and representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, distributed among (62) field teams; to monitor and treat potholes and cracks, pavement defects, visual distortion elements, weak phone coverage, and other aspects that affect the quality of the road user experience.

This campaign is a qualitative step towards achieving the targets of the Road Sector Program, reaching the sixth rank globally in the Road Quality Index, and reducing the fatality rate to less than 5 cases per 100,000 people, thereby contributing to enhancing quality of life, maintaining infrastructure sustainability, and cementing the Kingdom's global leadership in road network connectivity, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
