Removal of 66 Dilapidated and Abandoned Buildings in Northern Border Region
The Northern Border Region Municipality, represented by the Ibn Shuraym Municipality, has commenced the removal of dilapidated buildings as part of its efforts to address visual blight and enhance public safety. It has completed the removal of 10 out of 66 abandoned buildings that pose a risk to residents and the urban landscape, after fulfilling regulatory procedures and obtaining approval from the Higher Committee for Buildings. Work continues to complete the removal of the remaining buildings.
The area of planted green spaces reached 171,211 square meters.
In the context of improving the urban landscape during the first half of 2026, the municipality carried out scraping and repaving work on a number of roads and streets in the neighborhoods of Al Yarmouk, Al Rimal, Al Malqa, and Al Rifa', with a total length of 3,300 linear meters and an area exceeding 67,360 square meters.
Field teams also removed 830 cubic meters of demolition and construction waste, and 542 tons of household waste, boosting public cleanliness and urban environmental quality.
In terms of vegetation cover development, the area of planted green spaces reached 171,211 square meters, in addition to planting 580 trees and 2,250 flowers, contributing to enhancing the aesthetic and sustainable environmental character of the region.
The municipality affirmed its continued implementation of municipal projects to support quality of life and raise the level of services provided to beneficiaries.
