Removal of 66 Dilapidated and Abandoned Buildings in the Northern Borders
The Northern Borders Region Municipality, through the Ibn Shreem Municipality, launched a campaign to remove buildings at risk of collapse, as part of addressing visual distortion and improving safety factors. The municipality has completed the removal of 10 out of 66 abandoned buildings that pose a risk to residents and the urban landscape, after completing legal procedures and obtaining approval from the Supreme Committee for Buildings, and work is ongoing to remove the rest.
This campaign is part of a package of municipal projects aimed at raising the level of services and improving the quality of life in the region.
The area of cultivated green spaces reached 171,211 square meters.
As part of efforts to improve the urban appearance in the first half of 2026, the municipality carried out scraping and repaving works on roads and streets in the neighborhoods of Al-Yarmouk, Al-Rimal, Al-Malqa, and Al-Rifaa, with a length of 3,300 linear meters and an area exceeding 67,360 square meters.
Field teams also removed 830 cubic meters of demolition and construction waste, and 542 tons of household waste, enhancing public cleanliness and urban environmental quality.
In the field of vegetation development, the area of cultivated green spaces reached 171,211 square meters, in addition to planting 580 trees and 2,250 flowers, enhancing the aesthetic aspect and environmental sustainability of the region.
The municipality affirmed the continued implementation of its municipal projects to support quality of life and raise the level of services provided to beneficiaries.
