Researcher on Russian affairs Samer Elias said that Ukraine's targeting of Russian oil facilities is effective and has raised fuel prices inside Russia.

In an intervention on 'Al Arabiya FM', he added that these strikes forced Russia to import fuel, limited its export capacity, and prevented it from benefiting from the war in Iran to boost the Russian budget and gain additional resources.

The researcher on Russian affairs added that 80 Russian regions were greatly affected by this, as well as the tourist season, amid the risk of affecting the grain harvest season in Russia, in addition to psychological effects on Russians feeling that the war has moved to their lands and that Ukraine has become able to strike Russian oil facilities.

He continued that the Ukrainian side managed to reach the 10 largest oil refining and storage facilities in Russia, and that crisis spread to all Russian regions, noting that Ukrainian operations target the Russian domestic scene.

Elias went on to say that since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has targeted the main gas pipeline that transports gas from Russia to Ukraine, while Russian oil fields are far away, more than 3,000 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border.
