The US Central Command announced on Tuesday the completion of a new wave of military strikes against Iranian targets, in a new escalation of the ongoing confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

The US Central Command said in a statement that the operation lasted about five hours, during which military sites were targeted in several areas inside Iran, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.

It added that US forces used precision-guided munitions to target air defense systems on the Iranian coasts, as well as missile launch sites, drones, and Iranian naval capabilities.

The Central Command stressed that the strikes are part of ongoing military operations against Iranian capabilities, noting that more than 50,000 US troops are currently deployed across the Middle East.
