(CNN)-- The Kuwaiti army announced Sunday morning local time that the country's air defenses are 'currently repelling' attacks with missiles and drones following Iranian aggression.

The General Staff of the Kuwaiti army said in a post on platform 'X,' formerly Twitter, that if 'explosion sounds are heard, it is due to air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks.'

In contrast, the public relations of the Iranian army announced that 'in response to the enemy's repeated aggressions and attacks that targeted bridges, infrastructure, and civilian areas, the Iranian army hours ago launched intensive attacks with its suicide drones as part of the sixteenth phase of "Al-Sa'eqa" operations, targeting the ammunition depot of the American terrorist army in Camp Al-Adairi, as well as Patriot radars and the aerial radar of this aggressor army at Ali Al Salem base in Kuwait,' according to Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency.

The new Iranian attack on Kuwait came after the US military announced Sunday morning that it had completed another round of strikes on Iran for the eighth consecutive night, which it said targeted Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, naval capabilities, and sites for storing missiles and drones.
