Jordan intercepts 7 Iranian missiles and 6 drones.. No injuries or damage

The Jordanian Armed Forces announced that air defense systems and the Royal Air Force dealt over the past 24 hours with 7 missiles and 6 Iranian drones targeting the Kingdom's territory, confirming no human casualties or material losses from the interception operations.

A responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army said that the air defenses intercepted and shot down the missiles and drones during the early morning hours today (Friday), and that teams from the Royal Engineering Corps moved to the sites where shrapnel fell and dealt with them according to the applicable technical and security procedures.

The source stressed that the armed forces continue to monitor Jordanian airspace and maintain the highest levels of operational readiness to deal with any threat targeting the Kingdom's security and the safety of its citizens, according to the applicable rules of engagement.

The General Command called on citizens not to approach the sites where objects or debris fell, and to report them immediately, stressing the need to obtain information from official sources and not to circulate rumors or unreliable news.

The Jordanian announcement coincided with the Iranian army's announcement of targeting Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain and Azraq Base in Jordan with drones, in a development that comes within an ongoing regional escalation between Iran and the United States, whose repercussions have extended to a number of countries in the region.

Earlier in July, Jordan announced the interception and downing of 8 missiles launched from Iran towards its territory, confirming at the time no human casualties or material damage, in an indication of the continued exposure of Jordanian airspace to threats linked to the regional conflict.

The latest developments come amid the escalating military confrontation between Iran and the United States, and the resulting expansion of tension to include the airspace of Arab countries in the region, as Jordan has affirmed on several occasions that it will not allow its airspace to be violated or its territory to be used in acts that threaten its security, while affirming its right to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
