Israeli newspaper Maariv reported on Sunday that the Israeli army intends to complete the demolition of hundreds of buildings in two areas in southern Lebanon by the end of July, claiming they are infrastructure for Hezbollah.

Since March 2, 2026, Israel has been waging an aggression on Lebanon that has resulted in 4,328 killed, 12,227 wounded, and over one million displaced, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

The newspaper said that Israeli estimates indicate that the army will soon make operational decisions regarding tunnels it claimed exist in the areas of Shaqif Castle and Jabal Ali al-Taher in southern Lebanon.

It added that the army will complete by the end of this month the demolition of hundreds of buildings it claimed Hezbollah uses as infrastructure.

Hezbollah says it is resisting the Israeli army which occupies Lebanese territory.

The newspaper stated that the buildings are located in southern Lebanon, within an area extending from the Lebanese border to what Israel calls the 'Yellow Line' or the 'Security Zone'.

Israel occupies areas in southern Lebanon, some for decades, and others since the previous Israeli aggression between 2023 and 2024.

It also penetrated more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory during the current aggression, and called the area a 'security zone'.

According to the newspaper, the demolition operations represent about 70 percent of the total buildings in the targeted area.

Despite ceasefire agreements and the continuation of the negotiation process, Israel continues its aggression on Lebanon and carries out extensive demolition operations of houses in the south.

In addition to occupying Lebanese territory, Israel occupies Palestine and territories in Syria, and refuses to withdraw from them and establish the independent Palestinian state stipulated in relevant UN resolutions.
