(CNN) -- Iranian state media reported that Iran launched attacks early Sunday targeting several US military sites in the Gulf region, following the latest round of US strikes.

Iran's state broadcaster reported that Iran's Revolutionary Guard fired ballistic missiles toward Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

The broadcaster added that the Revolutionary Guard also carried out what it described as a "heavy and sudden attack" targeting logistics support facilities for naval ships and refueling platforms for US aircraft carriers at the port of Duqm in Oman.

In Kuwait, the Iranian army said it launched suicide drones against US military assets, including the Patriot air defense system. In Bahrain, which hosts the US Fifth Fleet headquarters, the Iranian army claimed it targeted a US communications system and radar facility.

CNN was unable to independently verify these claims of targeting US military sites, and has contacted US Central Command (CENTCOM) for comment.

Both Qatar and Kuwait had announced early Sunday local time that they intercepted aerial attacks, while sirens sounded in Bahrain and authorities urged residents to move to the nearest safe location.
