Syria's General Authority for Ports and Customs announced on Tuesday that it seized a shipment of weapons hidden inside a car heading to Lebanese territory.
The authority said in a statement that "the Jdeidet Yabous Customs Directorate seized 226 RPG rounds, which were securely hidden in secret compartments inside a car heading to Lebanese territory."
The official map of border crossings between Syria and Lebanon includes 7 main crossings: Jdeidet Yabous-Masnaa, Dabousiya-Abboudiya, Talkalakh-Buqaia, Arida-Arida, Jussiyeh-Qaa, in addition to Matraba and Jisr Qamar-Wadi Khaled crossings.
While the northern and coastal crossings operate regularly, security and field challenges resulting from the current military situation still impose restrictions on traffic through the Masnaa and Jussiyeh crossings.
On December 8, 2024, Syrian rebels toppled the regime of Bashar al-Assad (2000-2024), who inherited power from his father Hafez al-Assad (1971-2000).
