Al Arabiya, citing Iran's Mehr News Agency and quoting a security official in Khuzestan province, reported that a US missile strike targeted the vicinity of the passenger terminal near the Shalamcheh border crossing with Iraq, noting that the site was bombed without providing further details on the nature of the target.

However, Iranian media later updated the toll. The Iranian Students' News Network (SNN), citing a security official, reported two deaths in the US strike that targeted the area around the Shalamcheh border crossing.

Explosions in two areas

According to Al Arabiya, Iranian media reported that a site near the city of Ahvaz in southwestern Iran was hit by a US missile strike, with blasts heard in two other areas in the south of the country.

Iran's Mehr News Agency quoted an official in Khuzestan province saying that a location near Ahvaz was subjected to a US missile attack.

Fars News Agency also reported that the strike targeted the vicinity of Ahvaz, and quoted the deputy governor of Khuzestan as saying a point near the city was hit by a US missile.

The agency reported hearing two explosions near the city of Bushehr, which houses the Bushehr nuclear power plant, without indicating any casualties or specifying the cause of the blasts.

It also reported several explosions around midnight near the city of Sirik in Hormozgan province, east of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the sounds came from the Bamani district of the city, according to local sources.
