Ankara / Anatolia
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed that anyone who participates, in any way, in a potential US attack on his country will be a legitimate military target.
These remarks come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran over Iran's nuclear program and its regional activities.
Araghchi made these statements in a post on the 'X' platform on Wednesday, a day after the latest US threats.
Araghchi added: 'Our defensive doctrine is clear: an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'
He continued: 'Any aggression against Iran, including targeting our infrastructure, will force us to deliver a strong and decisive response.'
Regarding any potential US attack, Araghchi said: 'Anyone who contributes to such aggression, regardless of the type of support they provide, will be considered a legitimate target.'
US President Donald Trump had earlier on Wednesday threatened to bomb Iranian infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, in response to any attack Tehran might launch on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Mutual threats between the United States and Iran are not new, but they have escalated recently. This comes at a time when pressure is increasing on Tehran due to its support for its proxies in the region. Trump's threat to bomb Iranian infrastructure marks a shift in US strategy, while Tehran tries to show its strength and deter any attack with sharp statements. The possibility of a military response remains if the escalation continues, raising international concern about the outbreak of a wide conflict.
