Iran targeted two oil tankers off the coast of the Sultanate of Oman, sparking a fire in the engine room of one tanker and evacuating its crew, while all crew members of the other tanker were taken to safety after the intervention of Omani authorities.

The two tankers were hit by three projectiles while crossing Hormuz.

The Greek company Dynacom Tankers stated that the Malta-flagged tanker 'Kavomales' was hit by two projectiles while sailing 8 nautical miles northwest of the Omani region of Kumzar, causing a fire in the engine room, after which the captain decided to evacuate the ship after activating the fire suppression system.

The company added in a separate statement that the very large crude carrier (VLCC) 'Achillos', flying the Liberian flag, was also hit by a projectile. The tanker can carry about two million barrels of crude oil and was scheduled to load oil products in the Gulf this week.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced that the two oil tankers exploded and broke down while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz via a southern route, while the company noted that a third tanker belonging to it was also targeted by a drone in the Russian port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea, but the ship's crew managed to extinguish the fire that broke out on board.
