UAE condemns Houthi militia attack on Saudi vessel

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attack by the terrorist Houthi militia targeting the vessel (ENCELIA), belonging to a Saudi company, while it was sailing in the Red Sea.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that this attack poses a grave threat to the safety and security of international navigation, and constitutes a serious escalation aimed at undermining the security and stability of vital global waterways.

It also called on the international community to ensure the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, stressing that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a right guaranteed by international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.

The ministry affirmed the UAE's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures to preserve its security and stability.
