The US Army announced that the courses of 7 commercial ships were changed and one ship was disabled and 'taken out of service' as part of the maritime blockade imposed on Iran.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement on this matter on Monday via its account on the American platform 'X'.

The statement indicated that the US Navy amphibious assault ship 'USS Boxer (LHD 4)' supports air operations day and night from the Arabian Sea.

It confirmed the continuation of the maritime blockade on Iran, stating: 'As of July 20, the US Army redirected 7 commercial ships and neutralized one ship (took it out of service) to prevent it from entering or leaving Iranian ports.'

The CENTCOM post also included images of US military units and elements that participated in the operations during the mission.

On July 8, US President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire included in the memorandum of understanding signed with Tehran last June 18, which included lifting the maritime blockade on Iran.

This announcement came after Iran targeted three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, at a time when Tehran asserts its pursuit of imposing a mechanism to regulate ship passage through the strait, while Washington demands guaranteeing freedom of navigation and its security.

The escalation led to disruption of navigation in the strait, threat to energy supplies and air traffic, amid intermittent closures of airspaces, and warnings of targeting US facilities and interests outside the Middle East region.
