The United States on Monday issued a warning urging American citizens worldwide to 'exercise caution and vigilance' due to the war with Iran, according to a statement by its State Department.

The statement said that 'given the escalating tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex, with the possibility of unexpected escalation.' It warned of an increased likelihood of attacks targeting US diplomatic facilities 'or locations associated with the United States and Americans worldwide.'

This comes after the US military announced late Monday the conclusion of the tenth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, targeting 'Iranian military command centers, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems, aimed at undermining Iran's ability to continue attacking commercial ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz.'

For its part, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Tuesday that it 'stopped two oil tankers violating rules that were trying to pass through the unsafe southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, after explosions caused massive fires on board them.' The IRGC announced it had targeted US military sites, including air defense systems in Bahrain and Kuwait.

The number of US soldiers killed in the war on Iran has risen to 17 in the past few days, with the remains of another soldier undergoing examination. The deaths of two soldiers in an Iranian attack targeting US military personnel in Jordan were confirmed.

US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social: 'Every time Iran kills an American soldier, they will pay a multiple price... Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Kain have been informed of this directive.'

About 430 US soldiers have been wounded in this conflict so far.

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) said Monday that 100 US military personnel have been wounded since July 7, but clarified that 96 percent of them have returned to duty. It was not clear if any of them are among the 430 wounded in the Pentagon's public database. After a brief ceasefire, the conflict intensified on July 7, including US strikes on Iran and Tehran responding by attacking US forces in the Middle East.

A senior Iranian official told Reuters on Monday that mediators have presented Tehran with a proposal to de-escalate the war with the United States, which stipulates a 10-day ceasefire, aimed at finding ways to revive the interim agreement reached last month.
