(CNN)-- The United States launched strikes against Iran for the seventh consecutive night, again targeting coastal areas near the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, as well as transportation infrastructure in deeper areas inside Iranian territory, according to Iranian state media.

Reports said strikes occurred late Friday night and into the early hours of Saturday in the coastal city of Bandar Abbas, and the nearby islands of Qeshm and Larak, both located in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's state broadcaster IRIB also reported that bridges and a tunnel were targeted on a highway linking Bandar Abbas and the inland city of Hajiabad.

Other areas targeted included Ahvaz, Darab, Yazd, Omidiyeh, and Bushehr province, with some of these areas located far inside Iranian territory. CNN was unable to independently verify the Iranian claims.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its strikes targeted "observation posts, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities, and naval capabilities."

US President Donald Trump had repeatedly threatened to strike bridges and power plants in Iran if Tehran did not return to the negotiating table.
