What does Iran's strike on Jordan and killing of US soldiers show? Retired Air Force colonel analyzes for CNN
(CNN)-- Retired US Air Force Colonel Cedric Leighton commented Sunday on the deadly attack launched by Iran on a base used by the US military in Jordan and the weapons used in it.
Leighton explained in an interview with CNN that "the attack on Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan - where two military personnel were killed and a third is missing - shows that the Iranians are still willing to use long-range weapon systems and that they still possess them."

Leighton added: "The war we have been talking about has accelerated significantly over the past few days," also referring to a general escalation in exchanged fire.
At the same time, Leighton noted that the US military is intensifying its strikes against the western part of Iran, the area from which long-range missiles could be launched.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, in a statement issued Saturday, claimed responsibility for launching attacks targeting a base used by US forces in the Al-Azraq area of Jordan, and the Revolutionary Guard claimed it had "completely" destroyed a number of aircraft during the attack, which it said was carried out using missiles and drones.
