A state of anxiety prevailed inside the Al-Ahli Saudi camp in Portugal, after the sudden fall of one of the team's most prominent names during the friendly match, and everyone awaited what the tests would reveal amid fears of the worst-case scenario.

The Saudi newspaper 'Al-Yaum' revealed that the technical staff received a big morale boost, after medical examinations that Saleh Abu Al-Shamat underwent confirmed the safety of the cruciate ligament, following the injury he sustained against Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães.

The newspaper explained that magnetic resonance imaging showed that the player only suffered a bone bruise, without any damage to the cruciate ligament, after undergoing precautionary tests under the supervision of the team's medical staff.

The newspaper pointed out that Saleh Abu Al-Shamat's injury is a severe bone bruise, where he will undergo a rehabilitation program to recover from the injury and return to participating in collective training normally.

Abu Al-Shamat sustained the injury during the friendly match between Al-Ahli and Vitória Guimarães on Friday as part of the preparatory camp for the new season, which ended with Al-Ahli losing 3-1.

This defeat became the second loss for Al-Ahli in its friendly matches in its external camp, before the start of the new season, after losing to German club Holstein Kiel 1-4 in Austria.

In contrast, 'Al-Raqi' only achieved a single victory against Austrian club Salzburg 8-0, in its first friendly match in Austria, while it drew with Portuguese club Rio Ave 2-2 in Portugal.
