Abu Dhabi, April 18 (WAM) – Abu Dhabi Police crowned the winners of its chess championship, organized by the Police Sports Education Center in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club, with the participation of 35 male and 6 female players from its members at the club's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

Player Hani Hijazi from the Leadership Affairs Sector won first place in the men's category, while player Maryam Al Marzouqi from the Forensic Evidence Department took first place in the women's category.

Colonel Mohammed Hussain Al Khouri, a member of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Police Sports Council, honored the winners, in the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Salem Mohsen Al Mansouri, Acting Director of the Police Sports Education Center, and a number of officers and members.

He praised the participation of several ministries and authorities in the tournament, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, noting that the tournament highlighted the players' strategic and tactical skills, and demonstrated high sportsmanship and fair competition among participants.

He expressed thanks to the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club, headed by His Excellency Hussain Abdullah Al Khouri and the board members, for their distinguished efforts that contributed to the successful organization of the tournament.

During the ceremony, a special tribute was paid to player Nasser Al Mansouri, a member of the Criminal Security Sector with determination, for his enthusiasm and competition with his colleagues, achieving fifth place.

Lieutenant Colonel Salem Mohsen Al Mansouri, Acting Director of the Police Sports Education Center, expressed his appreciation to the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club, noting that the chess activity is an important sport that contributes to improving mental abilities and enhancing skills for its practitioners. He thanked the organizers of the tournament and congratulated the winners for their outstanding levels and high sportsmanship.

The tournament was supervised by Major Hussain Ali Al Hammadi, First Lieutenant Hamdan Al Mazrouei, and Zuhair Hassan, Director of the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club. In the men's category, second place went to player Khaled Nayef from the Human Resources Sector, and third place to Mohamed Salah from the Finance and Services Sector.

As for the women's results, player Salama Nabil from the Saif bin Zayed Police and Security Sciences Academy came second, and player Maryam Al Zaabi from the Leadership Affairs sector took third place.
