Al-Riyadh Clarifies Its Position on Signing Egyptian Trezeguet
Al-Riyadh club has become close to finalizing the contract with Egyptian international Mahmoud Hassan 'Trezeguet', as negotiations between all parties progress, with expectations that the deal will be finalized within the next two days.
Al-Riyadh club president Bandar Al-Muqail revealed in televised statements on MBC Masr 2 that the club's administration was keen to postpone completing negotiations until after the Egyptian national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup, out of respect for the player's commitment to his country's team and a desire not to distract him during the tournament.
Al-Muqail explained that the ongoing discussions are not limited to Trezeguet alone, but also involve Al-Ahly club, as there are a number of administrative procedures and final arrangements being completed in preparation for the official announcement of the deal.
Regarding the possibility of signing other Egyptian players, the president of Al-Riyadh confirmed that there are no ongoing negotiations with any Egyptian player at the moment, while expressing his wish to see more Egyptian stars in the Saudi Roshn League in the future.
Trezeguet has a distinguished professional career, having moved between several clubs in Europe and the Middle East. He played for Aston Villa in England, Trabzonspor, Başakşehir, and Kasımpaşa in Turkey, Anderlecht and Mouscron in Belgium, in addition to Al-Rayyan in Qatar, before returning to Al-Ahly, benefiting from international experience gained over nearly ten years of professionalism outside Egypt.
On its part, the Egyptian club Al-Ahly officially announced on Tuesday the termination of the contract with Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, a move that brings him very close to a permanent transfer to Al-Riyadh.
