A media report has stated that Maxence Lacroix, defender of English football club Crystal Palace, is set to move to Chelsea after the two clubs reached an agreement.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported last Tuesday that the two clubs held positive negotiations over the transfer of the French international defender, with Crystal Palace seeking £60 million to part with the player.

The BBC added on Friday that an agreement has been reached between the clubs, and it is believed that agreeing on personal terms is not a problem.

The player is expected to undergo a medical within the next 24 hours and sign a long-term contract, expected to run until 2032.

Lacroix (26) was a key player in coach Oliver Glasner's lineup last season, featuring in 55 matches across all competitions, contributing to the team's victory in the UEFA Conference League, the first major European title in the club's history.

He also played in the Charity Shield match which Crystal Palace won against Liverpool, and contributed to Crystal Palace having a strong season.

After his brilliance, Lacroix earned a place in the French national team squad that participated in the 2026 World Cup.

He played in 3 matches during the tournament, including starting against Norway and against England in the third-place match, in a tournament that the French team finished in fourth place.

Palace had signed Lacroix from German club Wolfsburg in August 2024 for £15.5 million plus £2.6 million in add-ons.
