Araujo Controls Barcelona's Transfer Market to Rebuild Defense
برشلونة يربط تحركاته في سوق المدافعين ببقاء أو رحيل رونالد أراوخو. الإدارة الرياضية تنتظر قرار اللاعب الأوروجوياني قبل التفكير في صفقات جديدة.
Barcelona is seeking to bolster its defensive line this summer, but that will only happen if Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo leaves, whose contract runs until 2031.
As newspaper reported that Araujo's continuity will determine the sports management's plan, as the club does not intend to sign a new center-back unless the Uruguayan player leaves during the current transfer window.
In the event of Araujo's departure, Barcelona's management led by sporting director Deco will look for a defender with extensive experience in European stadiums, preferably left-footed, especially since the club believes it has enough young talent in that position, both in the first team and the youth categories.
Among the names that interest Barcelona, Jon Martin of Real Sociedad stands out, but Barcelona is not considering signing him at the moment due to his young age.
Also, the name Cristian Romero has resurfaced, as he is admired by the sports management for his experience, strong character, and high competitive spirit, but he is right-footed, while the search remains focused on a left-footed defender.
Among the names proposed is also Aymeric Laporte, but completing the deal seems complicated, as it requires negotiation with Athletic Bilbao, given the strained relations between the two clubs in recent years, especially after the Nico Williams case.
In any case, Barcelona's position remains firm: it will not move in the defender market as long as Ronald Araujo remains with the team, and it will start looking for his replacement as soon as a final decision is made regarding his future.
