English club Arsenal announced that their French defender William Saliba sustained a back injury that will keep him out of action for a long period, after undergoing specialized medical examinations following his return from participating with the French national team in the 2026 World Cup.

Saliba played a key role for France during the 'Roosters' campaign in the 2026 World Cup, contributing to the team reaching the semi-finals, before returning to London for medical examinations that revealed the nature of the injury.

Arsenal said in an official statement that the examinations confirmed the player's injury in his back, explaining that his condition does not require surgical intervention, but it requires an intensive treatment and rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club's medical staff.

The club added that Saliba will begin the rehabilitation phase immediately, with close monitoring of his health condition, noting that the French defender will be out of action for a long period until he regains full fitness.

Arsenal confirmed that all technical and medical departments are focusing all their efforts on supporting Saliba during the treatment period, in order to ensure his return to the pitches in the best physical condition as soon as possible.
