English clubs Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers announced on Monday the transfer of midfielder Joao Gomes from Wanderers to Villa. Brazilian media reported that the international player joined Aston Villa, competing in the English Premier League, for 34 million pounds sterling ($45.79 million), plus an additional 4 million pounds in bonuses.

The 25-year-old player made 41 appearances in all competitions last season with Wolverhampton, which was relegated to the second division after finishing bottom of the English Premier League.

Gomes joined Wolverhampton from Brazilian club Flamengo in 2023, and made 130 appearances for the team, scoring 8 goals.
