Officially... Al-Ahly announces signing of Portuguese winger Trincão

Al-Ahly Club announced the signing of Portuguese winger Francisco Trincão from Sporting Lisbon, to bolster the team's attack during the current summer transfer window.

Al-Ahly's official account on X published a video announcing the player's introduction and signing a contract with the club, which was crowned last season with the AFC Champions League Elite title for the second consecutive season.

Trincão will wear the number 7 jersey, which was previously worn by Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, who had announced his departure from the team this summer after a distinguished career.

The 26-year-old Trincão played 208 matches for Sporting Lisbon, scoring 47 goals and providing 51 assists in 15,700 minutes.

He previously played for Spanish club Barcelona, where he appeared in 42 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists, and also represented Portuguese side Sporting Braga in 48 first-team matches, scoring 9 goals and providing 12 assists.

Al-Ahly Club announced the completion of the signing of Portuguese Francisco Trincão from Sporting Lisbon on a four-season contract, a step that reflects the management's direction to strengthen the first football team with elements possessing quality and experience, in line with the technical project aimed at competing for all championships in the upcoming period.

This signing reflects the club's confidence in Trincão's European experience, his versatility as a winger capable of playing in multiple attacking positions, high technical abilities, and decisive character on the field—factors expected to add significant value to the team. Trincão expressed his happiness at joining Al-Ahly, confirming that wearing the club's badge represents an important milestone in his professional career. Francisco's career is filled with distinguished professional stints in European stadiums, as he represented Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Wolverhampton, and Sporting Braga, gaining diverse experience in the Portuguese, Spanish, and English leagues.

Throughout his career, he played 327 official matches, scoring 62 goals and providing 57 assists—statistics that reflect his attacking abilities and consistent contribution in making a difference.

The player boasts a rich record of achievements at both domestic and continental levels, having won the UEFA Nations League (2024-2025), the Portuguese league title in two consecutive seasons (2023-2024 and 2024-2025), the Portuguese Cup (2024-2025), and previously the Copa del Rey (2020-2021), as well as the Portuguese League Cup (2019-2020).

Individually, he topped the list of most assists in the Portuguese league during the (2025-2026) season, confirming his status as one of the top playmakers in European football.
