The match witnessed great defensive caution from both teams, with exchanges of attempts over 120 minutes, but the brilliance of the two goalkeepers and the solidity of the back lines prevented the net from being shaken, so the two sides resorted to penalty kicks, which smiled upon the Swiss national team with a 4-3 result.

With this victory, the Swiss national team booked the last ticket to the quarter-finals, setting up a date with the Argentine national team, thus completing the list of eight qualified teams in the tournament.
