English club Liverpool announced on Friday the contract extension of Hungarian star Dominik Szoboszlai, following his impressive performances last season.

The club said in a statement on its website: 'Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool ahead of the 2026-2027 season.'

Szoboszlai's first comment

For his part, Szoboszlai told the club's website: 'This is perhaps the most important day of my career. There are two events that precede this: maybe when I joined Liverpool, that's the first, and when I had my child, of course. But in my football career, I can say this event is among the top three.'

The Hungarian midfielder added: 'I am very happy, I can't wait to go again and again. I am just happy to be here, as I have said many times.'

Szoboszlai's stats and achievements

Since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2023 from RB Leipzig, Szoboszlai has played 147 matches in all competitions for the Reds, scoring 28 goals, and was part of the team's Premier League title win in the 2024-2025 season.

Szoboszlai had his best individual season with the Reds last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists in 53 matches, and won the Player of the Season award voted by Liverpool fans.
