(CNN)-- English club Ipswich Town announced via its official website the signing of Moroccan defender Issa Diop.

The club, newly promoted to the Premier League, said Diop will be tied to a contract extending until the summer of 2030.

Issa Diop commented on that: "I am excited to take the next step in my career at Ipswich Town."

He added: "I know how big the club is, and I enjoyed all the conversations I had before taking this step. I know this is the right place for me."

Diop previously played for English clubs West Ham United and Fulham between the years 2018 and 2022 and 2022 and 2026.

Diop had recently finished his participation with the Moroccan national team in the 2026 World Cup tournament, which was held in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.

Diop (29 years old) participated in 5 matches in the last World Cup, scoring one goal, helping the "Atlas Lions" reach the quarter-finals.
