Spanish club Barcelona revealed on Thursday, in a statement published on its official website, that it has signed German winger Karim Adeyemi on a contract running until 2031.

This deal comes as major European clubs seek to bolster their squads with promising names in preparation for upcoming domestic and continental competitions.

The Catalan club confirmed the completion of the transfer of the 24-year-old German player from Borussia Dortmund after four seasons with the yellow team, which he joined from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

With this move, Adeyemi will reunite with German head coach Hansi Flick, who previously gave him his first opportunity with the senior national team five years ago.

According to Transfermarkt, this deal cost Barcelona €22 million ($25 million) without add-ons.

For its part, Dortmund issued a statement saying: "Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement on the transfer of Karim Adeyemi. After 146 matches and 36 goals over four seasons, we would like to thank Karim for his passion and dedication in the black and yellow jersey."

It is worth noting that Adeyemi was born in Munich on January 18, 2002 to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother, and possesses tactical flexibility enabling him to play on both wings as well as in attack.

This step opens a new chapter in the career of the 24-year-old player after his prominent experience in the German Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and previously with Red Bull Salzburg. Adeyemi will have to prove his abilities under coach Hansi Flick amid the expectations of Barcelona fans to see the addition he will bring to the attack. The financial figures of the deal, which reached €22 million according to Transfermarkt estimates, represent a calculated investment for Barcelona seeking to strengthen its squad with players capable of making a difference. It will be necessary to monitor the player's harmony with the Spanish team's system and his ability to regularly secure a starting spot amid strong competition for attacking positions.
