Spanish club Barcelona agreed on Thursday to sign German Karim Adeyemi for the first football team from Borussia Dortmund for $33 million, including possible additional incentives, according to reports. Barcelona issued a press statement saying: 'Adeyemi has become a new player in Barcelona's ranks for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2031.' The versatile 24-year-old German player becomes Barcelona's second signing after spending large sums to sign English international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. Adeyemi, known for his great speed and ability to play as a striker or on either wing, strengthens Barcelona's attacking options after the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. Barcelona lost the services of Englishman Marcus Rashford after the end of his loan from Manchester United, leaving the team in a state of attacking shortage. The Spanish champions also submitted an offer to sign Argentine Julián Álvarez, Atlético Madrid player, who is the club's main target during the current summer transfer window. German Hansi Flick, Barcelona coach, gave Adeyemi his first match with the German national team in 2021. The striker joined Dortmund in 2022 from Austrian Salzburg, and scored 36 goals in 146 matches in various competitions over four seasons before moving to Barcelona.
