Besiktas signs Trossard for three seasons
Turkish club Besiktas announced on Wednesday the signing of Belgian winger Leandro Trossard on a three-season contract with an option for a fourth season, coming from Arsenal, the champions of the English Premier League. The 31-year-old's contract with Arsenal ran until 2027 but he will now move to Besiktas in a deal the Turkish club said is worth 18 million euros ($21 million), to be paid in six equal installments over three years. The club said in a statement: "Besiktas Football Investments, Industry and Trade Company informed the Turkish Public Disclosure Platform that an agreement has been reached with professional footballer Leandro Trossard and his club regarding his permanent transfer." Arsenal confirmed that Trossard was granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo routine medical examinations before completing the deal. The Belgian player made 174 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal, scoring 36 goals since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. Trossard scored six goals and provided six assists in 31 league matches last season, as coach Mikel Arteta's side ended a 22-year wait to win the English Premier League title. Trossard has made 57 international appearances for Belgium, scoring 14 goals, and represented his country in four major tournaments.
