Electronic World Cup.. LYON and Vitality achieve two new titles
LYON team from Latin America was crowned champion of the Free Fire tournament in the Esports World Cup 2026, after winning the grand final which saw strong competition among 12 teams, winning a prize of $300,000, and guaranteeing qualification for the Free Fire World Series finals, in addition to adding 1000 points to its tally in the Club Championship race. According to the Saudi Press Agency 'SPA', the team put on a remarkable performance during the tournament, achieving a new record by scoring 45 points in a single match, before sealing the final match by outperforming its competitors in the final moments and snatching the title. In the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang women's competition, French team Vitality retained its title for the second consecutive time and the fourth in its history, after defeating Natus Vincere PH in the final with a '4-2' score, winning the first-place prize of $150,000 and adding 1000 points to its tally in the Club Championship. The tournament saw player Vioril Chen 'Vival' crowned as Best Player for the second time in her career, while LYON player Benjamin Perez 'Gamezking' won the Best Player award in Free Fire, after the outstanding performance he delivered throughout the tournament. This year's edition saw a name change for the women's tournament from MLBB Women’s Invitational to MLBB Women’s International, a step reflecting the tournament's global expansion, and its competitions being held for the first time in Europe, as part of the Esports World Cup 2026.
