Minnesota United FC officially announced the departure of Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez, just six months after his arrival.

The club had an option to extend James' contract until next December, but did not exercise it, noting that since last January, the former Real Madrid player has only played eight matches for Minnesota.

Now that James Rodriguez is a free agent, he must look for his 14th club in his professional career.

The Colombian international is 35 years old, and led his national team in the 2026 World Cup, reaching the round of 16 before exiting to Switzerland on penalties.

However, his situation with clubs seems more fragile: since his spell with Bayern Munich between 2017 and 2019, the playmaker has not stayed more than one season at any club, and has moved between eight different teams in seven years.
