The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the final list of goals nominated for the Best Goal Award at the 2026 World Cup, which includes 12 goals, among them three goals scored against the national teams of Morocco, Algeria, and Qatar.
Arab goals on the list
The list includes the first goal of Argentine star Lionel Messi against Algeria, along with a goal by Haitian player Wilson Edior against Morocco, and a goal by Karim Alajibegovic against the Qatar national team.
Presence of tournament stars
The list also includes a goal by New Zealand player Elijah Just against Iran, a goal by Frenchman Kylian Mbappé against Senegal, a goal by Japanese Daizen Maeda against Sweden, in addition to a goal by Uzbek Eldor Shomurodov against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The nominations also included a goal by Cape Verde player Sidney Lopes Cabral against Argentina, a goal by Norwegian Erling Haaland against Brazil, a goal by Argentine Julián Álvarez against Switzerland, a goal by Englishman Jude Bellingham against France, along with a goal by Spaniard Ferran Torres in the final match against Argentina.
