Singers Madonna and Shakira delighted the stands of MetLife Stadium near New York, along with Justin Bieber and bands BTS and Coldplay, in a massive halftime show held on Sunday, a first in the history of the World Cup final. The star-studded show, similar to Super Bowl halftime shows, included a tribute to football legend Pelé, as well as a performance of "Seven Nation Army" led by Gustavo Dudamel with musicians from the United States, Venezuela and Iran. Characters from "Sesame Street" and "The Muppets" also participated, alongside Coldplay and a school choir from an elementary school in New York, at the end of the show designed to raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, aimed at promoting access to sports for underprivileged children. The 12-minute show extended the halftime break in the match between Spain and Argentina to 27 minutes. Organizers described the halftime show as "the largest gathering of artists united for a cause since Live Aid." The scenes then shifted to the famous Norwegian fan celebration "Viking Roar" during this tournament, before South Korean band BTS performed their hit song "Dynamite" with rewritten lyrics to fit the football atmosphere, followed by a surprise appearance by "Ted Lasso" star Jason Sudeikis and his co-star Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard. Then it was time for Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, who performed a touching and specially adapted version of "Everything Hallelujah" for the World Cup, before Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy raised the excitement level again with a performance of the anthem of this World Cup edition, "Dai Dai," joined by dancers from Uganda.
