The official Al-Ahli account on X published a video announcing the player's presentation and his signing of a contract with the club, which won the AFC Champions League Elite title last season for the second consecutive time.
Trincão will wear the number 7 shirt, which was previously worn by Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, who had earlier announced his departure from the team this summer after a distinguished career.
The 26-year-old Trincão played 208 matches for Sporting Lisbon, scoring 47 goals and providing 51 assists in 15,700 minutes.
He previously played for Spanish Barcelona, representing them in 42 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists. He also defended the colors of Portuguese Sporting Braga in 48 first-team matches, scoring 9 goals and providing 12 assists.
Al-Ahli Club announced the completion of its signing of Portuguese Francisco Trincão, arriving from Sporting Lisbon, on a four-season contract, in a step that reflects the management's direction to strengthen the first football team's ranks with elements possessing quality and experience, aligning with the technical project aimed at competing for all titles in the upcoming stage.
This signing reflects the club's confidence in Trincão's European experience, and his being a versatile winger capable of playing in several attacking positions, with high technical abilities and a decisive personality on the field — factors expected to add great value to the team. Al-Ahli also wished Trincão all the best, expressing confidence that he will be one of the pillars contributing to achieving the fans' aspirations.
Trincão expressed his happiness at joining Al-Ahli, affirming that wearing the club's badge represents an important station in his professional career, and said: 'I feel great pride in joining Al-Ahli, and I realize the value of this club, its history, and its fan base. What I have seen of the passion of Al-Ahli fans was one of the most prominent reasons that encouraged me to undertake this experience, and I promise everyone that I will fight alongside my teammates to achieve successes and make the fans happy.'
Francisco's career is rich with distinguished professional stints in European stadiums, as he represented Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Wolverhampton, and Sporting Braga, gaining diverse experience in the Portuguese, Spanish, and English leagues.
During his career, he played 327 official matches, scoring 62 goals, in addition to providing 57 assists — figures that reflect his attacking abilities and consistent contribution to making a difference.
The player has a record full of achievements at the local and continental levels, having won the UEFA Nations League title (2024-2025), achieved the Portuguese League title in two consecutive seasons (2023-2024 and 2024-2025), also won the Portuguese Cup (2024-2025), and previously won the Copa del Rey (2020-2021), in addition to winning the Portuguese League Cup (2019-2020).
