Saudi club Al-Hilal has officially announced the signing of international goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais, following his remarkable performance with the Green in the 2026 World Cup.

Al-Hilal revealed in an official statement that the contract with Al-Owais is for two seasons, bringing him back to the 'Leader' just one year after his departure, a move that has reignited debate over the future of the goalkeeping position within the team, especially with Moroccan Yassine Bounou's name still linked to a possible departure during the current summer transfer window.

Al-Owais will immediately join Al-Hilal's camp in Austria in preparation for the new season, after preferring to return to the capital club despite having three offers from Al-Hilal, Al-Diriyah, and Al-Shabab, benefiting from his outstanding performance with the Saudi national team at the 2026 World Cup, which brought him back into the spotlight.

The international goalkeeper had left Al-Hilal in the summer of 2025 for Al-Ula, seeking regular playing time after years as the backup goalkeeper behind Yassine Bounou. During his first stint with the 'Leader' since joining in January 2022, he played 20 matches in various competitions, keeping clean sheets in 10 and conceding 17 goals.

It is worth noting that Al-Owais made a remarkable impression at the 2026 World Cup, despite the Saudi national team's elimination from the group stage, as he was one of the tournament's standout goalkeepers.
