German football legend Lothar Matthäus has predicted that Frenchman Michael Olise will stay with Bayern Munich, despite reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid, stressing that the Bavarian club is still building a competitive team and does not plan to let go of one of its top stars.

Matthäus told Sky network that Bayern Munich is on the right track in terms of strengthening its squad, adding: "The club wants to achieve success, and has already made two excellent deals, and I am convinced that its plans are not over yet."

Matthäus spoke about Olise's tactical role, explaining that the player featured for France in the playmaker position during the 2026 World Cup, but this position faces strong competition within Bayern, according to Bild newspaper.

He added: "Olise played as a number 10 for the French national team, but Bayern already have two or three players in that position. He can also play as a striker if necessary, and he has done that with Bayern."

He continued: "I think he feels more comfortable in his real position on the right wing, and he has performed better with Bayern than he did as a striker for France during the World Cup."

Matthäus's comments come amid French media reports that Olise expressed a desire to move to Real Madrid during the World Cup and spoke with several Real Madrid players, including Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni, to inquire about the atmosphere within the team.

Despite this news, reports indicate that Bayern Munich does not intend to part ways with the player, who is under contract until summer 2029, and considers him a key pillar of its project for the coming seasons.
