Midfielder Rodri, captain of the Spanish national team that won the 2026 World Cup by beating Argentina 1-0 after extra time on Sunday, said that "winning with your country's national team is the most beautiful thing of all," during a reception held at the Spanish government headquarters led by Pedro Sánchez in Madrid.

Rodri said: "I always say it: winning with your country's national team is the most beautiful thing of all, especially the World Cup. Lifting the trophy is the greatest achievement you can accomplish in football."

He added: "This generation grew up watching Iker Casillas and Andrés Iniesta lift the trophy (in 2010), and to be able to achieve that today is the greatest achievement you can accomplish in football."

It is worth noting that Rodri, who is a Manchester City player, was named best player of the North American World Cup.
