Roshn clubs request postponement of 'certificate'
Several clubs in the Saudi Roshn League have asked the Saudi Pro League Association to postpone the deadline for issuing the financial competency certificate, according to a special source for Al-Riyadiah. The association set July 30 as the final date for paying the final installments and submitting documents proving fulfillment of financial obligations, ahead of issuing the certificate, according to an email obtained by Al-Riyadiah. The same source explained that a number of clubs contacted the association after receiving the email, requesting an additional grace period and postponing the certificate issuance until near the end of the summer registration period to allow them more time to settle their obligations and complete the requirements for obtaining it. The regulations require clubs to obtain the financial competency certificate in order to register their new players during the "mercato" period, as any club that does not meet its requirements is barred from completing registrations. The association received, last July, the tasks of organizing and monitoring the financial regulations related to the football activity of the Saudi Professional League clubs based on a decision by the Ministry of Sports to transfer the competencies of the Financial Sustainability Committee to the association under the name "Financial Control Committee", and to amend the scope of the financial competency regulation, including oversight of financial activities for football, and granting the financial competency certificate to clubs through the association.
