In the embrace of Paramaribo, the warm capital of Suriname on the northern coast of South America, with a population of about six hundred thousand, the story of the Summerfield family began. That land, fertile by nature, was harsh to its people; its riches overflowed with rain and greenery, but it gave its inhabitants only little. In the late twentieth century, Crescensio's parents migrated to the Netherlands; the departure was not a stroll, but a desperate flight toward a glimmer of hope to protect a growing family. The family settled in the working-class neighborhood of 'Nieuwe Oorden' in Rotterdam. A neighborhood that combines the harshness of exile with the clamor of back streets, where the smells of Surinamese food intermingle with the sound of cold winds coming from the harbor. There, the mother daily waged a silent, heroic battle raising eight children in a cramped home with scarce resources. She organized their days between school benches and small dreams blossoming in their chests, and with strict maternal firmness she kept them away from the pitfalls of the dangerous neighborhood. As for the father, Ronald Summerfield, he moved between grueling jobs and exhausting work, carrying on his shoulders the burdens of daily bread and the costs of his children's commutes, and among them especially little Crescensio. Crescensio Summerfield was born on October 30, 2001. From his earliest childhood, the round ball was the windows through which he looked out at a wider world, and the rope he clung to to climb toward a light beyond the walls of the cramped apartment. At the age of five, he took his first steps on the field at the academy of the local club 'OVV'. Soon his talent caught the attention of scouts from Feyenoord Rotterdam in 2008, so he moved to the academy of the historic club, where his talent was honed under the supervision of coach Cor Admiral, who saw in him a fast winger skilled in the arts of penetration and dribbling. His path to professionalism was fraught with challenges. In January 2019, he was loaned to FC Dordrecht in the second division at the age of seventeen, then loaned again to ADO Den Haag in the top division. There, he showed amazing attacking effectiveness and an exceptional ability to decide one-on-one duels. Those experiences opened the doors of England for him, where he moved to Leeds United in September 2020. He started with the under-23 team, then his star rose in the English Premier League in September 2021. The peak of his brilliance came in the 2023–2024 season with Leeds United in the Championship, where he scored twenty-one goals and provided ten assists. That performance earned him the Player of the Season award. Afterwards, he moved to West Ham United in August 2024 on a six-year contract, becoming one of the prominent faces in the Premier League. At the international level, Crescensio had tasted tournament success early, winning the UEFA European Under-17 Championship with the Netherlands in 2018, then continued representing the under-21 team. As for his personal life, he shares it with Jasima, the Dutch model, with whom he had his first child in 2023. The dark-skinned youth amassed a fortune estimated at about eight million euros, from which he earns an annual salary of 3.5 million euros at West Ham, in addition to his investments in a clothing and accessories line targeting youth fashion in the Netherlands. In his spare time, he enjoys video games and following car races. His heart remains attached to his roots; he prefers traditional Surinamese dishes, foremost among them 'roti' stuffed with chicken and potatoes, alongside Dutch seafood that reminds him of the city of Rotterdam that embraced him, but he may become a lover of Saudi kabsa should he complete his transfer deal to Al-Hilal.
