Barcelona striker Ferran Torres faces crucial moments regarding his future at the Catalan club as he receives a tempting offer from France after becoming a national hero by scoring the goal that crowned Spain as World Cup champions against Argentina.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported that French side Paris Saint-Germain is targeting Ferran Torres with an offer that disrupts Barcelona's plans.

It indicated that Barcelona's management intended to extend Torres' contract, which expires on June 30, 2027, but decided to postpone negotiations until a final decision on offloading Robert Lewandowski is made, and preferred to move forward with signing a new striker.

Marca explained that Lewandowski's departure opened the door for Torres, but there is a clause in his transfer contract from Manchester City that obligates Barcelona to pay €8 million if his contract is extended before the summer transfer window closes.

It stated that for this reason, Barcelona officials preferred to suspend the contract extension file with Torres and restart negotiations in early September to avoid this clause.

The newspaper also said that despite the desire of both the player and Barcelona to extend the contract, Torres scoring Spain's World Cup-winning goal and previously 21 goals in 49 matches for Barcelona last season tempted other clubs to sign him, including Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, Catalan newspaper Sport confirmed that the Parisian club made an enticing offer both financially and sportingly that may push Torres to reconsider his options.

It also added that despite Ferran feeling comfortable at Barcelona, doubts, lack of regular playing time, and the budget allocated for the Julián Álvarez deal could push him out of the plans.

It pointed out that what tempts Torres to move to Paris Saint-Germain, the European champion in the last two years, is his coach Luis Enrique, who was behind giving the Barcelona striker the chance to represent the Spanish national team for the first time in 2020.

It confirmed that Barcelona's priority is to keep Ferran Torres, but under specific conditions: renewing his contract without a salary increase, and accepting a defined role in the lineup.

Sources told Sport that Paris Saint-Germain has not started official negotiations with Barcelona regarding Torres; instead, the French club is waiting for the player to express his desire first before negotiating his signing.

It concluded its report by stating that although there is a release clause in Torres' contract worth €1 billion, his real value is estimated at €50 million, and PSG officials believe this amount can be reduced during negotiations.
