Saudi clubs entered the race to sign Chilean international Eric Pulgar, midfielder of Brazilian club Flamengo, after the value of the release clause in his contract dropped to $4 million during July, according to what was reported by the Brazilian sports website GE.

The report explained that clubs from Saudi Arabia and the United States contacted Pulgar's representatives to express their desire to sign him, taking advantage of the possibility of activating the release clause without needing to negotiate with Flamengo's management, as the interested club only needs to notify Flamengo and pay the stipulated amount.

Flamengo's sporting director José Boto indicated that the club is not worried about the possibility of the player leaving, affirming that Pulgar is happy in the team, and that the management is closely monitoring the situation.

For his part, a source close to the player revealed that there is serious interest from three Saudi clubs, and that one of them has already reached an agreement with Pulgar regarding the salary and signing bonus, while the transfer would become likely if the release clause is paid.

Pulgar's career with Flamengo: It is noteworthy that Pulgar, aged 32, is under contract with Flamengo until the end of 2027, and joined them in 2022, playing 162 matches in which he scored five goals and provided nine assists, and won nine titles with the team, including the Copa Libertadores, the Brazilian League, and the Brazilian Cup.
