With Al-Nassr present.. Famous Madrid journalist demands Perez bring Ronaldo back to the Bernabéu
Famous Madrid journalist Tomas Roncero of the Spanish newspaper AS has asked Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, to bring back Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al-Nassr, to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, the home of the royal club, eight years after his departure.
Ronaldo left Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 to join Juventus, where he stayed for three years, before spending a season and a half with Manchester United, finally settling in the Saudi league with Al-Nassr since the winter of 2023.
The newspaper AS published a video of the Spanish journalist, in which he asked Perez to arrange a friendly match against Al-Nassr before the start of the new season, with Ronaldo in attendance, to compete for the 40th edition of the Santiago Bernabéu Trophy.
The Santiago Bernabéu Trophy is a tournament that Real Madrid held before the start of each season since 1979, but it stopped at the 39th edition, which took place in 2018.
Roncero's statements open the door to bringing both the tournament and Ronaldo back to the Santiago Bernabéu after an eight-year absence, especially since next season will be the last in the Portuguese star's contract with Al-Nassr, which opens the door to his retirement.
It is worth noting that Ronaldo is Real Madrid's all-time top scorer with 450 goals, scored over nine years wearing the royal team's jersey between 2009 and 2018.
😍 RONCERO ASKS FOR CRISTIANO'S RETURN TO THE BERNABÉU AFTER 8 YEARS! IT WOULD BE A PERFECT MOMENT AND RIVAL FOR THE 40TH SANTIAGO BERNABÉU TROPHY. COULD IT BE POSSIBLE? 🥹👀 @As_TomasRoncero pic.twitter.com/bSPhklhPVz — Diario AS (@diarioas) July 24, 2026
